- We visited J&N's after doing show'n'tell at Jenn's office.
- Chinese New Year, 1 Feb
2003 - We hosted a Chinese New Year's party at our place. It's
our annual excuse to have Peking Duck. Wade came with Tracy, we hadn't
seen them in years. Rich came with Joanna, nice to see him again, and
meet her. Mike, and Cheryl brought 3 year old Alissa
which turned out to be good for Graeme who got his first kiss from a
girl - apparently he even slipped her the tongue! (all right, Graeme!)
Warren, Charlene, Jay, Nissan, and Brad rounded out the group. This
was the day the space shuttle Columbia was destroyed. A somber veil
over what was otherwise a fun day.
- Nissan's Birthday, 15 Feb
2003 - The fact that her birthday isn't for a few days probably
helped the surprise. Our group met at the Gypsy Co-Op on Queen St. (Toronto)
to celebrate Nissan's 30th. Photo wise, I quite like the candy still
life and the group silhouette shots. Many of the rest do best as thumbnails
as they're in soft focus from long exposure due to the fact that I hate
using the flash, even in low light.
- Cottage Weekend, 21-23
Feb 2003 - Chris and Katy brought Sarah, Jonathan and Julie brought
Daniel: the three kids were together for the first time since New Year's.
Jon, Micah, and Todd were there as well. (Todd made the best Hot Chocolate
ever!) Originally W&C, S&B, and J&N were scheduled to come
up as well, but plans faltered at the last moment. Although Doug was
there (hard to tell from the photos), he was feeling sick all weekend.
Nobody went skiing, but we did chop a hole in the ice, so all was not
lost. Updated: 7 Mar 2003 with photos from Jon & Julie's

- Termual Dinner, 23 Mar 2003
- Janusz showed up with some Polish beer (tasty). Erica and Greg brought
Cameron and Bryce who were *much* less timid than last time they were
over. Steph and Brad drove Jay, unfortunately Nissan couldn't make it.
Murray was in town, and his brother Matt visited as well. Mike came
later on - that man lives on a permanent caffeine buzz. ("I stop
drinking Coke when I go to bed.") Graeme enjoyed being passed around,
I don't think either of us held him for several hours. A good time was
had by all.
- Brunch & Swim at the Xaviers,
6 Apr 2003 - Warren & Charlene hosted a brunch, Jay &
Nissan and Steph & Brad were also in attendance. Graeme has his
second swim ever, which we recorded on (digital) film.
- Bruce Trail Hike, 17 May
2003 - Warren & Charlene, and Jay & Nissan, joined us
for a hike along a Dundas section of the Bruce Trail which included
a nice waterfall. This was the first use of Graeme's new baby carrier.
- Richard Betel's BBQ, 18 May
2003 - Richard hosted a BBQ to break-in his new deck and BBQ.
It was our first visit to his house post-renovation and it looked quite
modern. (vs. the old place which... um... didn't.)
- Brad's Birthday BBQ, 7 June
2003 - We attended the annual BBQ at Steph & Brad's place.
Unfortunately, Graeme chose this outing as his first "let's cry
to show the other guests what having a child is all about".
- Cole & Suzy come for dinner,
16 June 2003 - Cole & Suzy stopped in to have dinner with
us and to visit with Graeme, on their way home from Stratford.
- Chris, Katy & Sarah's
place, 30 June 2003 - We stopped in to have supper with Chris,
Katy & Sarah. Micah and Todd also stopped by.
- Jon, Julie & Daniel's place,
1 July 2003 - We spent the afternoon with Jon, Julie & Daniel.
We got to swim in the pool and otherwise have a great time. Micah, Paul
& Janet, and Chris, Katy & Sarah were also there.
- Brunch with Warren and Charlene,
27 July 2003 - We cooked dim sum at Warren & Charlene's today.
As usual, Graeme was the center of attention.
- An afternoon at Jay & Nissan's,
10 Aug 2003 - Steph & Brad joined us at J&N's and we
had an afternoon barbeque.
- Last minute cottage weekend,
23-24 Aug 2003 - Doug was able to get the weekend off, at the
last minute, so we packed quickly and drove to the cottage. On Saturday
we visited with Graeme's Grandma and Grandpa, sailed, and generally
did cottagy things. On Sunday, the Montreal crowd was able to come up
and we had a nice half-day with the friends: C&K&s, J&J&d,
J, M, D&K(Derek & Kristin). Unfortunately, we weren't able to
see Graeme's Great Grandma on the way home, because we were snagged
by a 5 hour traffic jam, just East of Kingston.
- Bruce Trail Hike with Micah,
31 Aug 2003 - We hiked from Brock Road in Dundas, up to the CN
Rail line, up into the Spencer Gorge, up and around Websters and Tews
Falls, out to Dundas Peak Lookout, and back along the Dundas Station
side trail. Our map is a few years out of date and didn't include the
side trail, but the signs made it sound like a good loop, so we tried
it with much success - approximately a 7 km loop.
- Steph & Brad's BBQ, 31
Aug 2003 - S&B hosted a BBQ. W&C, J&J&d, Murray,
Micah, and Derek&Kim were in attendance. We ate chicken, burgers,
and hot & sour soup. Warren and Doug climbed up onto the roof and
shot some pictures of the fireworks that were visible over at the CNE.
- Graeme's Playgroup, 05 Sep 2003
- Graeme visits with friends Mackenzie and Callum.
- Bruce Trail Hike, Borer's
Falls, 07 Sep 2003 - Sonya, Dave, and Callum Stevenson joined
us today. We hiked a loop, down into the valley, and up the other side
to Borer's Falls which was barely a trickle at this time of year. Heading
along the escarpment we were treated to some nice views before descending
once more into the woods. Odd ruins, gave way to (not so) hard to find
train tracks, which led us back to the cars at the corner of York and
Valley roads.

- Rhys' 1st Birthday Party,
20 Sep 2003 - Graeme (and Doug and Jenn) attended Rhys' first
birthday party.
- 15 Year LCC Reunion, 04
Oct 2003 - My (Doug's) "Class of '88" had it's 15 year
high school reunion this weekend in Montreal. Attendance wasn't strong
for our year, but it was great seeing many of my old friends and teachers.
The event was held in the new "Velan Gym", across the street
from the school, which I hadn't seen before. It was good to see George
and Janet there, as we would have missed them otherwise, this weekend.
- Sushi Dinner at our place,
25 Oct 2003 - Jay &Nissan and Warren & Charlene joined
us for a home made sushi dinner which consisted of fresh salmon, and
increasingly creative california (style) rolls.
- Suzy's Birthday
Dinner at Christina's (restaurant), 15 Nov 2003 - We joined Suzy
& Cole, and friends, for a lovely dinner (sans Graeme) followed
by cake at C&S's place.
- New Year's Eve 2004
- C&K&s hosted New Year's Eve this year. A maskarade theme made
for an very festive atmosphere. Fun was had by all.
