31 July 2003 - Graeme often watches Mummy or Daddy take a shower in the morning. Sometimes he makes it difficult for us to get out of the shower because he'll stand there with his hands on the door. Today he got to explore the shower stall, he pronounced it fun! ...until he slipped. <sigh> I have a theory that all babies start out as geniuses, and through their infant and toddler stages they repeatedly hit their heads on things, each time lowering their I.Q. By the time they've reached grade school they've put most of their head-banging behind them, but by then the damage is done and they're thick as posts. Try to prove me wrong! -- Doug
27 July 2003 First thing in the morning, Doug is talking to Warren and Charlene, arranging brunch (photos here), while Graeme "helps" with the phone: After visiting, we swung by the store on the way home. Graeme slept in the car. Graeme's Grandma (Marilyn) called, and during the conversation Graeme was practicing his standing. In the photo on the left you can see him lifting his hands off the couch. At times he had both hands in the air, and the only body part touching the couch was his tummy. The end was predictable, and Daddy was there to catch him when the inevitable fall occurred.
25 July 2003 - Grammy & Grandad were visiting their favourite (and only) grandson for a couple of days. Grandad serenaded Graeme with some lovely clarinet music. Some of Graeme's friends came over to play with him too!
19 July 2003 - Finally, a good shot of his teeth (after many attempts). He's been resisting, but we found a solution that worked: Doug played peek-a-boo behind the newspaper, while occasionally making woofing noises. Graeme thought this was terrifically funny, and Jenn took advantage of the laughing to snap this photo.
14 July 2003 - Tooth#2! Graeme's second tooth cut through the gum last night. Still no photos, but they're VERY sharp.
13 July 2003 - Kristen & John came to Toronto for TTREK and were able to join us for dim sum. A few photos of the frivolities:
10 July 2003 - Graeme is becoming more mobile by the day. He doesn't "crawl" in the usual sense of the word, but I'm sure that's coming soon. He does kind of an awkward shuffle-sit-crawl-sit maneuver which gets him where he wants to go. Graeme found, and "investigated" the CDs today. He hit him self on the head with "The Police", and promptly complained to his Mummy. (Daddy suggest he try Enya instead - lighter music.) Also today, we finished mounting the rear speakers on the wall and moved the CDs from their freestanding towers to shelves. To accommodate the CDs we moved the VHS tapes off to boxes (a sign of the times). His distance record, to date, is traveling from the center of the living room (over a period of time) to the base of his Daddy's chair in the kitchen. (This took long enough for Mummy & Daddy to have supper while we watched his progress.) That was a few days ago. Today he could probably cover that distance in just a few minutes. Tomorrow? Faster than lightning.
9 July 2003 - Graeme sprouted his first tooth today! We promise a photo just as soon as he lets us take one. So far we've had trouble actually seeing it (despite it being one of his lower front gum). We have felt it, however, oh boy have we felt it. (My nose, for example, is rapidly becoming out-of-bounds for friendly biting. -- Doug)
8 July 2003 - Graeme and Mummy playing, at home in the computer room. Mom is pinned.
5-6 July 2003 - John and Shirley visited for the weekend. There's a whole series of shots from this weekend (mostly of Graeme) which I'll be posting.
4 July 2003 - I'm going to let Daddy take over the website updating now. Maybe I'll do more later. -- Graeme Graeme enjoys playing with the baby in the mirror. I don't know if it "fools" him any more, I think he's moved up to looking at himself. (It's hard to tell.)
1 July 2003 - Another busy day! I went to my friend Daniel's house to swim in his pool. After supper, we all got into the car and started driving home. Along the way, we stopped in Kingston to visit Great-Grandma.
